Cambourne - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cambourne is a new town about nine miles (14 km) west of Cambridge, England, lying in the district of South Cambridgeshire and the county of Cambridgeshire, on the A428 road between Cambridge and St. Neots/Bedford.
The settlement of Cambourne is seen as one of the results of the government's plan to build thousands of new homes in the south-east of England.
The success of Cambourne cannot yet be confidently predicted; the likelihood of greater housing densities in the areas yet to be built has led to some members of the community fearing the vision of 3 distinct semi-rural villages will be compromised.

 Brian Cambourne
Brian Cambourne is currently associate professor and in the Faculty of Education, University of Wollongong Australia.
Cambourne argues that teachers who are dissatisfied and/or frustrated with the methods they use to teach literacy are prisoners of a view of learning which is based on quite invalid assumptions and which seriously complicates the process of learning to read and write.
He has become aware of a rising tide of what appear to be carefully organised and concentrated attacks on education and the concomitant development of a form of discourse that deliberately and consciously sets out to both deny and distort the credibility and achievements of a more inclusive and socially equitable pedagogy of literacy.
