William and Mary were living at Wootton with their 4 children Rhoda, Sarah, Leah and Ambrose when William was arrested on the 17th December, 1822, for horse stealing from Owen CAMBRIDGE of Bassingbourn, Cambridgeshire.
He was tried at Cambridge, Isle of Ely, Assizes on the 13th March 1823 and sentenced to death by hanging, but after a plea for leniency by Owen CAMBRIDGE, this was changed to transportation for life.
Mary HURST and her 4 children arrived at Botany Bay on the "Lucy Davidson", and they then sailed to Tasmania on the "Guildford" on the 1st January, 1830.

Accordingly the University of Tasmania equipment is being progressively handed over to the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) to install a 'new' monitor at Kingston, Tasmania, a few kilometres south of the present Hobart monitor and to enlarge the present neutron monitor at Mawson.
A standard 12-counter IGY type instrument, owned by the University of Tasmania and operated by the AAD, was installed at the Wilkes base in 1962 with the aim of observing closer to the geomagnetic pole than at Mawson.

We radioed a 210 that had just left Apollo Bay, weather OK but we could not clear the ranges, back to Kyneton for the night, went to the pub and were accused of being cops, second time this had happened (must be Ed’s good looks).
While much of Arnhem Land is fairly uninteresting, especially to someone used to Tasmania, the coastline is absolutely magnificent.
