CamelCase - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
CamelCase, camel case or medial capitals is the practice of writing compound words or phrases where the words are joined without spaces, and each word is capitalized within the compound.
The original Hungarian notation for programming specifies that a lowercase abbreviation for the "usage type" (not data type) should be prefixed on all variable names, with the remainder of the name in UpperCamelCase; as such it is a form of lowerCamelCase.
Hungarian Notation is an extension of this style.

Notation   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
Camel Notation uses capital letters to indicate the break between words when more than one word is used to define a variable.
Camel is named such because the capital letters separating the words look like little camel humps.
There two most common types of notation to resolve this situation are Prefix and Hungarian notation.

Camel notation is like Pascal notation, except the first letter of the variable name is also lower case.
A special form of Camel notation is called Hungarian notation.
With Hungarian notation, you also include information in the name of the variable—such as whether it is numeric, has a decimal value, or is text—that helps to identify the type of information being stored.

 C# Identifiers
Microsoft suggests using “camel notation” for identifiers used as names of variables.
Camel notation means an initial lowercase letter followed by uppercase letters (“internal caps”) for initial letters of subsequent words in the identifier.
Pascal notation—an initial uppercase letter, with internal caps as needed—is supposed to be used for identifiers that represent method names and most other non-variable objects.

Prefix Notation means that fields, properties, and properties will have, at a minimum, a three letter variable type indicator.
Camel notation means that when two or more words are combined to form a variable name, initial capitalization will be used to indicate each word.
For example, a variable to represent last name might be lstrLastName (if we were using underscore notation, it would be lstr_last_name.) The type and scope indicators in camel notation will always be lowercase, then the words that make up the variable name have initial capitals (``L" and ``N".)

Jon Gallant's Blog : Name That Control
We don't use strict hungarian notation and we don't abbrivate the prefix as much.
However FxCop does check to make sure your using good Camel Case, so since initial release of.net 1.0 I have been trying to alway do correct Camel but every now and then when your deep lost in thought and the code is just flowing.
my reasoning for supporting the death of hungarian notation is that code should be refactored to a level that its self-describing and you don't need to look at naming conventions to derive meaning.

 Qcodo - PHP Development Framework
I agree with you that camel is easier to read, though for me it doesn't really matter which qcodo's uses, as long as we stick to one convention.
Anyway, I do apologize for the poor documentation on this, but there *is* a way to have your code generated output switch notation, especially for the data objects (in terms of the form drafts, changing name conversion functions to see if it converts everywhere has not been fully tested as of yet).
IF you want your generated files to support a different naming convention, it should hopefully be as straightforward as creating your own CodeGenCustom class (which extends from CodeGen), and overriding any of these conversion methods in Codegen to support whatever naming standard you wish.

I imagine that the primary reason camel notation isn’t used more often is that there’s a lot of confusion over what is, and what is not, case sensitive.
