 Greene County, Pennsylvania - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Greene County was created on February 9, 1796 from part of Washington County and named for General Nathaniel Greene.
The racial makeup of the county was 95.07% White, 3.90% Black or African American, 0.15% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.05% from other races, and 0.60% from two or more races.
In the county, the population was spread out with 22.10% under the age of 18, 9.70% from 18 to 24, 29.00% from 25 to 44, 24.00% from 45 to 64, and 15.20% who were 65 years of age or older.

Schriever was well know in this section of Pennsylvania and later in the Kane and Scranton areas.
A master photographer, Schriever captured much Emporium and Cameron County History in the late 1800's, including a series of photos of the 1889 Flood and many photos of the logging industry.
Today, professional photographers vie for the opportunity to be awarded The James B. Schriever Memorial Plaque, considered to be the highest honor in photography in Pennsylvania.
