		Camiling was formally organized as a town in 1838 when it was separated from the Pangasinan town of Bayambang.
		When the new province of Tarlac was created, Camiling was the town with the biggest land area and population among the towns that composed it.
		Another sign of the level of development of Camiling during the late 19th century was the presence of a spur line of the Manila-Dagupan railroad from Paniqui to the town.
