Dublin have won the most Camogie All-Ireland titles with 26; the last being in 1986.
Kilkenny hold the record for the most successive Camogie titles with 7 victories between 1985 and 1991, their last title to date was won in 1994.

Camogie is similar to hurling but it is played by girls.
The ball used in camogie is slightly smaller than a hurling ball and players are not aloud to make body contact like they are in hurling.
Players in camogie are allowed to hit an opponent's stick or hurley, which is not permitted in hurling.

Camogie has been played in Douglas since the early part of the 20th century.
However in camogie, unlike hockey, players can pick the ball onto the hurley and into the hand, solo (carry the ball on the flat of the stick while running), and strike the ball from the hands or ground.
Competitions are organised by the Cork County camogie board and consists of teams from all parts of the county.

The history of Camogie in the Courcey Parish started in 1954 when a group of girls from the parish got together and started a team called the Courcey Maids, their colours were blue and white with a red and white Courcey crest.
In 1982 when the Camogie club was reformed they were the only team in West Cork but now are joined by almost a team from every Hurling Club in West Cork and South East Cork.

Although we are working hard to raise the profile of the club very little is really known about the game in Scotland and we feel some potential players are not joining the team because they are unaware it exists.
Siobhan plays in midfield for both Shinty and Camogie, where she is constantly putting her skill and fitness to the test and coming out on top.

However we overcame their worries and set the precedent as the first camogie club to be full members of a GAA club.

The first public camogie match ever took place between two Dublin clubs Cuchulains and Keatings in Navan on Sunday 17th July 1904, with Keatings winning by a goal to nil.
Camogie celebrated its 75th Anniversary in 1979 when a National League was inaugurated for the counties of Junior status.
In 2002, Castlebar Mitchels Hurling Club took on the task of inaugurating Camogie in the town and under the astute directorship of Chairman Fr Michael Murphy and the leadership of Noreen Heston a camogie club was started.

Blackrock camogie club is bringing a bus to Croke Park for the All-Ireland camogie finals on Sunday September 19th.
After a great day of camogie with all the girls playing their hearts out the stage was set for a great final between Blackrock 1 and St. Vincents 1.
Blackrock camogie is putting together a junior team for next year's competition and with that in mind we travel to Waterford on Sunday 31st to take part in the Butlerstown 7-a-side competition.
