Miriam showed the people that, though their covenant with God was new, those they had made with their spouses, their children, and their aging parents were vital to their covenant with God; habits of faithfulness built up over a lifetime could help preserve their commitment to God.
When Miriam was teaching the Israelites to allow the void to be void and not to fill absence with a false presence, she was presenting the central insight embodied in the Tabernacle worship described in Exodus.
Miriam's perspective and insights were not limited to the time in the wilderness, nor is the relevance of her teaching restricted to those who sojourned with her in the desert.

Miriam Camp was born in 1916 in Lynn, Massachusetts, and graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1937.
In 1954, she resigned to marry Professor William A. Camps, Master of Pembroke College, Cambridge University and was an editor at the Economist from 1954-1956.
Camps returned to the Department of State in 1961 as a consultant to the under secretary for economic affairs, and in 1967 she became an international economist in the Office of the Secretary.

Miriam died of cancer and kidney failure in 1987; both were related to the injections she was subjected to at Auschwitz.

In 1912 Miriam No. 17, U.O.T.S began negotiations with the Sommers Bureau to use the property during non-camping months as a convalescent home, and in October 1913 the property was rented to Miriam for use from October through May. On October 18, 1914, the Rosa Bry Convalescent Home was formally opened.
Later the Miriam Rehabilitation Program was entrusted to the Jewish Hospital as part of a merger agreement of four health and hospital agencies to assist in the development of an outstanding medical center in St. Louis.
The Miriam Diagnostic Preschool (1964) became the only preschool in St. Louis available for this type of child, and thus enabled the younger child—ages four and five—who is ineligible for a public school and yet is in his prime years for learning, to gain specialized help.
