Partly through organizations such as Camp Trans and strap-on.org, transgender politics have been thrust to the forefront of "queer issues." Most importantly for this discussion, male-to-constructed-female (MTCF) transsexuals and transgender males identifying as women have demanded entry to MWMF, using a variety of claims to justify this demand.
Camp Trans has organized a protest/event held near the MWMF grounds and during the same week of August.
Many of the arguments and tactics used by Camp Trans and their supporters apply pressure to our feminine conditioning to be nice, to share, to not exclude transgender people who want to attend MWMF.

This was the last Camp Trans (except for a small three-person demonstration in 1995) before it was revived as "Son of Camp Trans" in 1999 by Transexual Menace and GenderPAC.
A press release from GenderPAC states: "the stars of Camp Trans [1999] were the Chicago Lesbian Avengers who, in support of an inclusive MWMF went toe-to-toe with angry lesbian-separatists intent on harassing the trans-contingent out of the festival grounds.

In its fourth consecutive year, Camp Trans welcomes any and all people to camp out or visit, and to learn about trans issues and issues of inclusion at the festival and in greater society.
Camp Trans is also dedicated to political action and to educating MWMF attendees about why we want trans inclusion.
Last year, Camp Trans organizers led a candlelight vigil to remember victims of anti-trans violence that began in the festival and led out to Camp Trans.

The Festival's founder and on going organiser, Lisa Vogel, responded with a statement in 2001 claiming the "intention is for the Festival to be for womyn-born womyn, meaning people who were born and have lived their entire life experience as female" (Vogel 2000).
The standard woman is assumed not to encounter trans issues, at least not in a way that impacts on her sense of gendered self.
On the other hand Vogel's unwillingness to talk to the Camp Trans group is perhaps as open to criticism as her definitions of gender identity.

It seems (as I said: it seems!) as a countermove that some Hamburg-zampanos prefer it to stew in their own juice, that is to till their own allotment (in the colours: german-white-qutonomous) and this in the name of, as it is said again and again, a genuine (a good, a pure, a proper…) movement-camp.
Considerable parts of the previous border camp preparation group (among them many of those who have been in the business of politics for a long time) have gone away and are in the meantime preparing the Schill-Y-Out-Days in Hamburg.
Despite of all differences this is an immense shortening for this year's border camp, apart from the fact that it is everything but a brilliant achievenent in the field of political culture.

The womyn and trans action was created as a direct way to increase the number of womyn and trans folks with technical forest skills in our community.
The womyn and trans action is also a place where people can feel empowered to learn and have the self-confidence needed to voice their own opinions and give input in important group decisions.
The womyn and trans action is just one small idea put into practice to help our community actualize the end of patriarchal domination within the 'environmental movement', while also defending a sacred temperate rainforest.

Sofsky, W.; Templer, W., trans.: The Order of Terror: The Concentration Camp.
In this pioneering book, the renowned German sociologist Wolfgang Sofsky looks at the concentration camp from the inside as a laboratory of cruelty and a system of absolute power built on extreme violence, starvation, "terror labor," and the business-like extermination of human beings.
The society of the camp was dominated by the S.S. and a system of graduated and forced collaboration which turned selected victims into accomplices of terror.
"Sofsky patiently shows how virtually everything in the camps, from their physical layout to the use of time to the categorization of prisoners, was a way of exercising and consolidating absolute power over an increasingly dehumanized prisoner population.

The objective of any kind of deconstructionism is to distinguish between what is socially constructed and what is not; it is not to arrive at whatever preconceived conclusion that one wishes to arrive at.
I was also quite disappointed to learn of the support provided to "Son of Camp Trans" by the Lesbian Avengers; and have come to realize that they are simply another organization that is more concerned about playing that tired old discredited "more-radical-than-thou" game than they are with the legitimate concerns of women at MWMF.
