He was Head Consul of the Virginia Woodmen of the World, director of First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Lynchburg, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, president of the Lynchburg lodge of both the Travelers Protective Association and United Commercial Travelers, and a deacon of College Hill Baptist Church, Lynchburg.
