Campbell Soup Company - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Campbell's was founded in 1869 by Joseph Campbell, a fruit merchant, and Abraham Anderson, an icebox manufacturer.
By 1896, Anderson left the partnership, leaving Campbell to reorganize and form a new company, Joseph Campbell and Co. In 1897 a nephew of one of the new Campbell partners, Dr. John T. Dorrance, began working for the company at a meager wage of $7.50 a week.
In 1898, Herberton Williams, a Campbell's executive, convinced the company to adopt a red and white color scheme because he was taken by the crisp colors of the Cornell University football team's uniforms.

CAMPBELL SOUP COMPANY v. Kathy Jo GATES
Because the evidence of Campbell's liability was not substantial enough to warrant the trial court submitting the matter to the jury, we reverse and dismiss the judgment.
Gates's case, Campbell Soup Company moved for a directed verdict on the grounds that no evidence of fault on the part of Campbell Soup Company had been presented and that there was no basis on which the jury could infer any defect in the product at the time it left the manufacturer's hands.
Gates in her effort to assign liability to Campbell Soup Company was, simply put, not substantial enough to negate the existence of other possibilities of sources of contamination and therefore requires the setting aside of the jury's verdict.
