In recognition of his victory at the Battle of Camperdown, he was awarded the Large Naval Gold Medal and an annual pension of £3000, to himself and the next two heirs to his title - this was the biggest pension ever awarded by the British Government.
Additionally, he was given the freedom of several cities, including Dundee and London; created Viscount Duncan of Camperdown (with which came the lands now known as Camperdown Park); and Baron Duncan of Lundie.

Adam Duncan, Viscount Duncan of Camperdown (1 July 1731 - 4 August 1804), born in Lundie, Angus, Scotland, and receiving his education in Dundee - defeated the Dutch fleet off Camperdown (north of Haarlem) on 11 October 1797.
Additionally, he was given the freedom of several cities, including Dundee and London; created Viscount Duncan of Camperdown (with which came the lands now known as Camperdown Park, Dundee); and Baron Duncan of Lundie.
Duncan died in 1804, aged 73, and is buried in Lundie.

Located to the southeast of the Boathouse beside the footpath on the west side of the Cleft Ridge Span, the Camperdown Elm is the result of grafting a part of a unique Scotch elm from Dundee, Scotland, onto a native Scotch elm trunk.
Believed to have a genetic mutation that causes it to grow horizontally instead of upward, the elm was planted in 1872 and continued its odd pattern of growth.

This is a part of a huge fleet of toy ships at Camperdown Park in Dundee, in Tayside (just across the river from Fife).
Camperdown Park was given to another Scottish sea-captain, Admiral Duncan, about 200 years ago, by the city of Dundee to thank him for winning a big victory over the Dutch fleet at a place the Dutch called Kampe Duijn - which when they say it sounds like "Camperdown" in English.
More recently it's become a big country park with lots of games for children, including radio-controlled boats, rowing boats, and racing bikes (see next page).
