CanWest Global purchased TV3 from the receivers of the failed startup station and held it through a variety of subsidaries until transferring ownership of the operation and its other major media assests inclduing the station C4 in July 2004 to Canwest MediaWorks NZ where it retained a 70% stake.
CanWest built its ownsership of Radio Assets in New Zealand through its purchase of Radioworks and the further expansion of this operation through acquisition of other local radio stations and networks and organic growth.
