Canada 2c Large Queen on laid paper - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Large Queens were the first issue by the Dominion of Canada; they are so-called to distinguish them from the 1870 issues (the "Small Queens") which are similar in appearance but physically smaller.
The Large Queens were normally printed on wove paper, but the 1c, 2c, and 3c values were also printed on the less-desirable laid paper.
In 1925 a 2c green on laid paper was reported, although many authorities were dubious, and the Scott catalog did not list it until the 1930s.

The first issues were made on laid paper, which did not stick as well to envelopes, and so in 1852 the printers switched to wove paper.
While mostly printed on wove paper, a few of the 1c, 2c, and 3c values were also printed on laid paper; only two examples of the Canada 2c Large Queen on laid paper are known, making it Canada's rarest stamp.
The Large Queens had a relatively short life, being replaced in 1870 by the "Small Queens", smaller stamps of the same basic design, adopted to be able to produce more stamps more quickly.

The International Encyclopedia of Sexuality: Canada
Canada’s ten provinces, plus the Yukon and Northwest Territories, are linked through a central federal government but the various levels of federal, provincial, regional, and municipal government have differing levels of responsibility for health, education, social welfare, legislation, and other areas that impact upon sexuality and sexual health.
The large segment of the population now in the middle years, i.e., the “baby boom” generation born between the late 1940s and the early 1960s, has exerted considerable influence on social and cultural patterns in Canada from the “sexual revolution” of the late 1960s to the economic expansion of the 1980s.
Canada is in a stage of change with respect to matters of law and policy regarding the status of men, women, children, the variously abled and disabled, and individuals of differing sexual orientations.

It was a case concerning the powers of the Canada Labour Relations Board to compel production of documents prior to the commencement of a hearing, which came on appeal from the Federal Court of Appeal [(1989), 59 D.L.R. (4th) 384].
Ordinarily in Canada's distinct division of federal-provincial powers, labour relations, being considered to be a matter of "property and civil rights," are accordingly a matter of provincial jurisdiction.
Adopted apparently by the Supreme Court of Canada, that conclusion is binding on this Court by authority of one or other, or both of those appellate Courts.
