The Canadian War Museum (French: Le Musée canadien de la guerre), located in Ottawa, Ontario, is a Canadian museum that honours Canada's veterans and commemorates the wars and conflicts in which Canada has taken part.
The museum is part of the Museum of Civilization Corporation, which also runs the Canadian Museum of Civilization, the Canadian Children's Museum and the Canadian Postal Museum.
The museum was officially established in 1942, but it did not enjoy its own dedicated facility until 1967 when it moved to the former Public Archives building on Sussex Drive in Ottawa, located between the Royal Canadian Mint and the (then) future site of the National Gallery of Canada.

The CT-133's on display at the Shearwater Aviation Museum are two of the 656 CT-133's built for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) by Canadair in Montreal in 1953.
The Museum's two CT-133's are painted in different paint schemes representing the first and last eras of the CT-133 at Shearwater.
This aircraft with Royal Canadian Navy markings is typical of the paint scheme of the CT-133 when it was flown by the Navy at Shearwater in the 1950's and 1960's.

The Atlantic Canada Aviation Museum was fortunate enough to recieve a Harvard Mk II from the
Canadian Aviation Musuem, in Ottawa, on a ten year loan.
After months of corrosion control and prep work the Harvard fuselage was removed from the Museum and painted and returned to the Museum during the weekend of Jan 13th.The aircraft was transported by Atlantic Tiltload LTD. and painted at the Provincial Western Star paint facility in Dartmouth.

In April 1947, PP462 was sent to Canadian Car and Foundry where it was painted in the new RCN colour scheme consisting of dark gray upper surfaces and light gray lower surfaces.
Although the Shearwater Aviation Museum was awarded a $38, 052 grant by the Millenium Bureau of Canada in 2000, the museum also depends on personal and corporate donations to help defray costs.
The Shearwater Aviation Museum Foundation, the local population and the Canadian Forces support this project, as the Firefly and the distinctive roar of its Rolls Royce Griffon engine were not only a fond community memory but an integral part of their history.

It should also be remembered that, with the disbandment of the Canadian Aviation Corps at the very beginning of the First World War, Canadians then served with Britain's Royal Flying Corps (RFC), the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS) and subsequently the Royal Air Force (RAF).
Eventually, the Burgess-Dunne arrived at Quebec City where it and the Canadian Aviation Corps, now consisting of two officers and one mechanic (Sharpe had enlisted Harry A. Farr from a Victoria infantry unit in Janney’s absence), were put aboard a troop transport taking the Canadian Expeditionary Force to Britain.
Janney was determined to create a proper aviation corps and once in the United Kingdom set out on an inspection tour with the intention of forming a one-flight squadron (estimated cost $116-117,000).

Museum staff were very helpful in solving the clues as we had not realised that we should have done some internet research before we set out.
We (me + husband + 14 year old son) went the direct way on foot to the cache hiding place from the museum which was probably not a good idea as we got stuck in the undergrowth, for a little while.

Built in 1924, this "shrine to aviation" is the final resting place for 13 aviation pioneers including Elizabeth L. McQueen (founder and President of the Women's International Aeronautical Association), Matilde J. Moisant (the second licensed female pilot in the United States), and Hilder F.  Mosquito Walk Around
The subject is a Canadian built B Mk XX Mosquito (roughly equivalent to British Mk IV) and, as I was told at the time, is the only surviving (in tact) example of single stage Merlin variant.
The museum’s example had a panel in the forward ceiling of the bomb bay removed allowing these shots up into the cockpit area.
Not present on the museum’s example is the complex wire rigging used for opening/closing the gear doors.
