 Remote Sensing Applications in Search and Rescue
The existing wind model from the Canadian Meteorological center in Dorval supplies a 2 degree by 2 degree grid south of 60 N and a 2 degree (lat) by 4 degree (long) grid for the arctic.
The Canadian Coast Guard is also commencing a study with the Canadian Centre for Remote Sensing to examine the effect of a wide range of satellite sensors on the trajectories of SAR targets.

 2002 Canadian Coast Guard Exemplary Service Medals
As part of the Canadian Honours System, the Canadian Coast Guard Exemplary Service Medal recognizes individuals who, in the course of their duties, provide service in difficult or critical situations; who are often involved in potentially dangerous activities; and who also have a record of such high standard as to merit this prestigious Medal.
The medal is a circular silver medal, suspended from a five-striped ribbon bearing the Canadian Coast Guard crest on the obverse and Her Majesty’s Crown and Cipher on the reverse.
Walter Connors joined the Canadian Coast Guard in July of 1974 aboard the CCGS Thomas Carleton and served on her until decommissioning.

The College was established in 1965 with the mandate to provide marine engineering and navigation officers for the Canadian Coast Guard.

Patrick R. Toomey (Retired) Canadian Coast Guard, was born in England and started his sea career at the age of 15 as an officer cadet/apprentice in the British Merchant Navy, and sailed worldwide in cargo and passenger ships for six years.
That same year, he and his family moved to Canada, where he joined the Canadian Coast Guard, Atlantic Region, at Dartmouth, N.S. Appointed first Cadet Supervisor at the founding of the Canadian Coast Guard College, Sydney, Nova Scotia, in 1965, Toomey served in that capacity until 1967.
That year, he transferred to Quebec Coast Guard Region, sailed throughout eastern Canadian waters, the Canadian Arctic and the Great Lakes to retirement in 1991 as the Senior Captain in the Canadian Coast Guard Fleet.

There is in my riding the Canadian Coast Guard College.
It is a fact that there is currently in the law a requirement that everyone who ships oil on the ocean has to employ individuals who are trained in ocean cleanup.
The Canadian Coast Guard College on the ocean is a perfect place for the government to begin training individuals in ocean cleanup, in oil spills.
