		The Canadian Paediatric Society is alarmed that too many children are sitting inside watching television instead of playing outdoors, particularly because most children already sit at school for five to seven hours every day.
		A recent study published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal showed that the lure of television has the average Canadian child sedentary for three to five hours a day in front of the TV alone.
		The Canadian Teachers’ Federation concurs with the advice of the Canadian Paediatric Society, but warns that while daily, quality physical education is an ideal worth pursuing, schools and educators have a full plate when it comes to meeting the curriculum needs of today’s children.

		Flu season is coming and the Canadian Pediatric Society says it's time to get ready and make sure that, ideally, all children over six months of age are vaccinated.
		The Society says that children under the age of nine years who have never had a flu shot will actually need two doses of the vaccine, at least four weeks apart.

		I was visiting the Canadian Pediatric website for something this morning and I came across their SIDS information which is available though Health Canada as a brochure.
		The Canadian Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths, the Canadian Institute of Child Health, the Canadian Paediatric Society and Health Canada held a workshop in 1993 on reducing the risk of SIDS.
		The Canadian Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths, the Canadian Institute of Child Health, the Canadian Paediatric Society and Health Canada have integrated this information into existing programs and will continue to do so.

		Since the current Canadian data on fluorosis are based on examination of the teeth of children who are, for the most part, older than 10 years of age, the effects of the reduced "1986 dosage schedule" on the incidence of fluorosis are currently not available.
		Although we acknowledge the rationale for the later introduction of fluoride as reflected in the Canadian Dental Association guidelines, we do not believe that there are currently enough data to determine, with accuracy, the effects of changing the recommended age of introduction of fluoride supplements from 6 months to 3 years.

	Circumcision Policy Statements
		All six medical societies (the RACP, Australian Association of Paediatric Surgeons, New Zealand Society of Paediatric Surgeons, Urological Society of Australasia, Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and Paediatric Society of New Zealand) have now corroborated the Canadian Paediatric Society, declaring that circumcision of newborn males should not be routinely performed.
		The following statement by the Canadian Paediatric Society was issued especially to reject the contentions of Thomas E. Wiswell, MD, concerning the value of neonatal circumcision in preventing urinary tract infection.
		The GMC has also asked to Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons to produce a guidance on the medical aspects of male circumcision, (1997) A statement eventually was produced in 2001.
