Sid Halter was the first Commissioner of the Canadian Football League, and held the position from the CFL's inception in 1958 until 1966.
At his 1966 induction into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, he was acknowledged as “the architect of the modern day Canadian Football League”.

The Canadian Sports Hall of Fame in Toronto is struggling to keep going thanks to the mismanagement of the government.
Directors of the Hall became frustrated when they learned that the first building, which the government would not spend more than $2.5 million on, was now being earmarked for a museum of Canadian political history which would cost the government and the taxpayer $90 million.
There are only three paid employees at the Hall’s current location in the CNE grounds, but there are over 30 volunteers who give up a lot of time and effort to keep it going.

 Costly renovations sink Sports Hall of Fame
Phil Denyes, president and CEO of the hall, announced to the media earlier this month that the plan to convert the federal government’s Conference Centre into a modern and interactive tourist attraction is “not going to happen” because of the costly repairs the building would require.
However, Denyes is confident the sports hall of fame will move to Ottawa as soon as a practical location is found.
Canadians need to have a place to go to honour their sports heroes and the most logical place for that to be in is the nation’s capital,” Tatone argues.

Canada's Sports Hall of Fame is a Hall of Fame located in Toronto and established in 1955 to "preserve the record of Canadian sports achievements and to promote a greater awareness of Canada's heritage of sport"[1].
It was located on the grounds of Exhibition Place (1955-2006) (Canadian National Exhibition), and was the joint home (1961-1993) of the NHL sponsored Hockey Hall of Fame, before the Hockey Hall's move to its present location in the downtown core.
In 2006, the Hall of Fame museum closed and is currently looking to relocate to a new location.
