The cuisine of the western provinces is heavily influenced by German, Ukrainian, Polish and Scandinavian cuisine.
At the forefront of Canadian cuisine is the fusion of modern culinary techniques and uniquely Canadian ingredients, such as wild blueberries and saskatoon berries, fiddleheads, mussels, caribou, bison, salmon, wild rice, maple syrup and locally produced wine, beer, icewine and cheeses.

As much as Canadians love to slag the American ambassadors to Canada, the newest recruit seems to be a fine choice, at least according to Maclean's.
The Canadian people have not had their say in this issue, there has been a year of government sponsored misinformation on this issue and still support for traditional marriage is over 50% and many of the people who support the concept of same sex marriage do so without all the facts.
There is a bit of the fatigue factor at play, the Canadian apathy towards important issues is setting in over SSM but I believe that we must continue the debate and continue to educate people that this position is not one of bigotry but of respect for the traditions and Constitution of this great country.

I am Canadian and I don't really have a clue what it is, so any ideas would be interesting.
To me, Canadian food is all the wonderful things I can get in Canada that I used to eat when I lived in England,that are not available in the USA.
We call "Canadian bacon" back bacon, and although it sort of looks like little round slices of ham, it is in fact different in some way...more bacon like...I guess.

I've had two very very close friends who were Canadian immigrants in my life, and they're indistinguishable from CA natives, and pretty much without Canadian friends of their own.
In fact, it is perhaps the strongest element of Canadian culture which is actively spreading southward, and will eventually be the best place to spot Canadian expatriates all over the States.
Canadians, because we've had to come to terms with where we are, are really a profoundly American nation.
