Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) is an annual event held at Exhibition Place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The CNE was not held between 1942 and 1946, when the land and its facilities were turned over to the Department of National Defence as a training ground.
The CNE resumed in 1947, as the Canadian military returned the grounds back to its civilian administrators.

The Canadian National Railway (CN; AAR reporting marks CN, CNA, CNIS), known as Canadian National Railways (CNR) between 1918 and 1960, and Canadian National/Canadien National (CN) from 1960 to present, is a Canadian Class I railway operated by Canadian National Railway Company headquartered in Montreal, Quebec.
The Canadian National Railway was created between 1918 and 1923, comprising several railways that had become bankrupt and fallen into federal government hands, along with some railways already owned by the government.
CNR was considered to be competitive with CPR in several areas, notably in Central Canada, prior to the age of the automobile and the dense highway network that grew in Ontario and Quebec.

When I was mulling over the reasons for why Canadians are going to the polls to vote their concious for a speach I am writing I thought of this: National Voting Day
What I am proposing is a day, what would be a national holiday set for the middle of the week say wednesday, that would be a paid holiday like Christmas that would be enacted every time a Federal Election is called.
If we are to set aside a national day where all Canadians have the day off we could see a rise in voter turnout just because many will have easier access to getting out to vote.
