The town of Canadice was formed under its present name as a distinct civil division of the county on the 15th of April, 1829, although it was not until the next year that the organization was made complete.
Canadice occupies a position in the southwestern part of the county, and is more remote and inaccessible from the county seat than any other of the towns.
When Canadice was formed and organized, 1829, pioneership had ceased, and the town then had its greatest population of 1,386 inhabitants, a number neither before nor afterward equaled.

The Seneca Indians were the aboriginal occupants of the Town of Canadice and the outlying territory.
There is considerable basis for this belief as in Canadice, as well as surrounding localities, are occasionally found stone implements such as axes, knives, pipes, pottery, etc. which cannot possibly be associated with the works of the Indian.
Along the shores of Honeoye Lake and elsewhere in Canadice, are evidence of this mode of interment.

In the center of the village, and later moved to the school property, a monument commemorating the fort built there in 1779, with the notation that "Here were left the sick, the lame and the lazy" of the Sullivan expedition.
It is assumed that General Sullivan crossed the northern end of the town of Canadice when he passed through the Seneca country crossing Canadice outlet about a mile north of the lake.
The point at which it is claimed he crossed the outlet of Canadice is about a mile from the foot of the lake.

This area is the tiny westernmost Finger Lakes, and the hilly areas in between; namely, the relatively unknown Finger Lakes are just west of Canandaigua Lake are: Honeoye (pronounced: honey-oy and rhymes with "funny-boy"), Canadice, Hemlock and Conesus Lake (written up as a separate site).

Hemlock Lake and Canadice Lake should remain forever wild and the surrounding community should be able to directly participate in the decisions that most effect their lives, such as the preservation of this eco-system in their backyard.
I’m unaware of the exact details, but it seems like Hemlock and Canadice have been excluded from a share of the profits, even though they are the main sources of the resource, these towns have not seen their fair share of mutual aid.
This is not to say that Hemlock and Canadice should be developed industrially, but that there are more positive community projects to put the money towards that could change the situation, by even the smallest donation.

The grapes you have are suited to the Eastern US but not quite up to CA standards.
Canadice is a nice light red grape with a tight bunch.
It's hotter here in summer than in Glendale, and I have Concord and Canadice, which grow fine, but don't taste as good as they do in areas where it cools off during the ripening period.
