The Canarsie Line (sometimes referred to as the 14th Street–Canarsie Line) is a rapid transit line of the BMT Division of the New York City Subway system, named after its terminus in the Canarsie neighborhood of Brooklyn.
The Canarsie Line used to share the structure at Atlantic Avenue with the connection from the Broadway and Fulton Street elevated lines to the Liberty Avenue Elevated (still extant further east as part of the IND Fulton Street Line).
The Canarsie Railroad was chartered on May 8, 1906 as a BRT subsidiary (leased to the Brooklyn Union Elevated Railroad) and acquired the line on May 31, 1906.

Before Canarsie High was built, the school district was split at Rockaway Parkway between Thomas Jefferson and Samuel J. Tilden, along with some specialty schools like Clara Barton, etc. If drugs were present, which I'm sure they must have been, it was only the juvenile delinquents who were involved.
Canarsie also had some pieces of history that were left behind by the Canarsie Indians, like finding arrowheads in the dirt at excavation sites for the ever-growing new homes developments.
Canarsie was a wonderful, safe place with a rich history and it's a shame that time has altered all of the wonders of My Brooklyn!

Canarsie Park and neighborhood take their name from the Canarsie (or Canarsee) Indians, who lived in western Long Island and were related to the Delawares.
Brooklyn Parks Commissioner Frank Squier stated that "this [Schenck] house will be preserved, and will always be one of the Park's attractions." Fifty-seven years later the house was dismantled, removed from the park, and reassembled at the Brooklyn Museum of Art.
