Candler Field, the site of the present-day Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was named after him, as is Candler Park in Atlanta.
Candler made millions of dollars from his investment, allowing him to establish Central Bank and Trust Company, invest in real estate, and became a major philanthropist for the Methodist Church.
Candler suffered a stroke in 1926 and died March 12, 1929.

The Murphey Candler softball "field of dreams" renovation is looking less like an apparition and more like a reality after a meeting of the minds between county and league officials.
Previously, MCGSA officials were seeking $1.3 million using a combination of federal, state, local and private funding for the reconstruction of the five girl's softball fields, additional parking spaces, utilities and lighting upgrades, renovations to the concession area and the construction of a new playground.
Using parts of the plan, county officials are working on a modified plan that would involve the hub design but without major changes to the concession/board room building or any new structures.

In May 1943 the Army Air Corps accepted title to Rickenbacker Field and converted it into an installation that would be named Dobbins Air Force Base (later Dobbins Air Reserve Base) in 1950 to honor Captain Charles M. Dobbins, a Mariettan whose plane was shot down near Sicily during the war.

Van Winkle Gin and Machine Works, Atlantic Steel, and Ford Motor Company's first Atlanta assembly plant were only the most prominent of dozens of cotton and mercantile warehouses, factories, and textile mills that lined the railroad corridors radiating from downtown.
By then, the dense redevelopment of much of downtown Atlanta had crowded out most of the old residential buildings, some of which had survived Sherman's fires in 1864, and new construction was replacing them with larger and larger office buildings, hotels, factories, and warehouses.
In addition, the city, urged on by Alderman and later mayor William B. Hartsfield, established a municipal airport on Asa Candler's old motor speedway south of town in 1929; and by the end of 1930, only New York and Chicago had more regularly-scheduled flights than Atlanta's Candler Field.

When Savannah’s airport was moved to Travis Field, Jungemann established Savannah Air Service, a company that repaired and serviced to aircraft, trained student pilots, flew charter flight, pulled aerial banners, refueled airplanes.
In his spare time, he constructed a Starduster II and funded the first aviation service on Hilton Head Island, S.C. As a former president of the Georgia Air Trades Association, he was involved in establishing the first general aviation management courses at Virginia Tech and other colleges in Boston, Minneapolis and Los Angeles.
