Cannock Chase is a local governmentdistrict in England.
It covers part of Cannock Chase forest and the towns of Cannock and Rugeley.
The district was formed on April 1, 1974 bythe merger of Cannock and Rugely urban districts, and Brindley Heath from Lichfield Rural District.

In the period since May 1997 the number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance nationally has reduced from 1,562,400 to 960,600; in Cannock Chase the number has reduced from 2,100 to 1,300.
Some 15,800 pensioners in Cannock Chase will benefit from the substantial increases in the basic state pension this April and next; this year's increase is £5 a week for single pensioners and £8 for couples.
In addition we have introduced free TV licences for the over 75s of whom we estimate there are about 5,700 in Cannock Chase.

She’s entrenched so deeply in the shriveled hearts of Congleton’s voters that I doubt even death will prise the constituency out of her hands.
In 2001 a vote for anyone but Labour in Cannock Chase was a waste.
