All beaches in the State of Oregon are designated public recreation areas, and are jointly managed by both the State of Oregon and the local municipalities whose boundaries encompass portions of the beach.
The beaches are tested using a three tier system in the peak system from May to September and are tested once a month throughout the rest of the year.
The possession or discharge of all types of fireworks is strictly prohibited on the beach within the City of Cannon Beach (OAR 736-21-0100 (1), ORS 480.120, and Cannon Beach Municipal Code 9.16.010).

The legend of the lost cannons caused a post office built in the Arch Cape area in 1891 to be called Cannon Beach.
In 1930 the cannon and the capstan of the Shark were mounted on a concrete base on US 101 near Arch Cape near where it washed ashore.
Duplicates are still at Arch Cape and at the north and south entrances to Cannon Beach.

What I didn't realize is that there's a town with the same name attached to the beach with a supposed vibrant creative population.
In addition to Haystack Rock, there are caves carved into the side of the sea cliffs by the ocean waves, white beaches good for walking, ample piles of driftwood for sitting, and other rocky piles that add to the whole aesthetic effect of this marvelous beach.
