Cannonball is just too lame a character, never really liked him that much.
The unintentional effect of Xavier's big headache is that it caused a whole slew of teenager to prematurely released their powers.
The Guthries as a collection has a lot potential, but the supposedly tolerant comic's writing staff justs writes them as unsophosticated, way too innocent white trash and don't bother to keep up any kind of consistency with their look- except for Sam.

Ah, the early 90's -- a comic book era wherein a man could be a man with grotesque muscles and an anatomically impossible bone structure, and a woman could be -- well, a woman could be a woman with posture and muscle tone resembling that of a man. A confused time, indeed.
The comic was an instant smash and propelled Liefeld to the status of superstar.
While mainstream comics are not exactly ideal for an insane amount of character development, X-Force can be seen as the comic book equivalent of a Steven Seagal flick.

 Comics From the Golden Age
Starting with that box of old "Dell" Disney comics at Grandma's house when I was a kid in the 1960's, I've been a reader and collector of comic books for pretty much my entire life.
At this stage of my life I'm not particularly interested in reading these comics, rather I'm more interested in appreciating the lurid artistic appeal of the covers and the overall nostalgic aura of the books (and, as I tell my wife, maintaining them as a non-401K investment).
I will be presenting these comics here, as I acquire them, as a reference to others who might be similarly interested in a wide variety of wonderful old comics.

This was also a tribute to the Kirby/Lee X-Men, since the original name for that comic was going to be "The Mutants," until someone convinced Stan Lee that not enough of the buying public knew what mutants were to make it a sensible title.
While crossovers were used in comics at that time (especially at Marvel--see Secret Wars II), a multi-title crossover on the scale of the Mutant Massacre (a title used in partial irony) was pretty new.
Based more on old movies than pop comics, Madripoor was both an attempt by Claremont to write the character in a setting he found fun, as well as to confound the fanboys who were just looking for "cool" action scenes.
