		Well the Cannonball Run 2006 has been underway for 24 hours now and almost 1000 miles from the start in Surrey, our intrepid Cannonballers are on the beach here in sunny Rimini recovering from their fantastic drive down.
		And the hot news is that the Cannonball Run leader after this stage is none other than Jonathan and Tim in the Volvo V70R (of all cars!).
		Cannonballers took several routes to cover the 230 or so miles, some straight across, some down the coast from Rimini then over to the west, and others went close to Firenze then down.

		Granted, the original Cannonball Run isn't exactly a critical masterpiece, but for what it is, it does work well.
		Normally, sequels take what was successful from the first film and give you much more, but Cannonball Run II mystifyingly strips away all of the good stuff, then injects some of the dumbest, most unfunny, and completely unnecessary side plots to fill up most of the running time.
		The first problem with Cannonball Run II lies in the fact that Brock Yates, writer of the first film and one of the creators of the actual race, is out as screenwriter.

		2 " Miuras appear briefly with Peter Sellers (blue and yellow I think); one is damaged during a car chase by the principal characters as Sellers' driver brings it out of the garage.
		I am researching these cars and it looks like I better not waste a lot of time- I bought a Porsche Turbo for 30K+ back when a Miura could be had for about the same price...
		There was a movie made back in the 70's (early?) with Glenn Ford named 'Slay Ride' in which a Miura was used repeatedly to run people off the road.
