Debris from rock falls piles up at the bottom of the side canyons and is then carried down to the Colorado River the next time there is a flash flood.
In the process of moving the rocks and sediment down the river to the Pacific Ocean the bed of the river is scoured by all of this fast moving debris which slowly eats away at the banks and bed of the river.

 Kill Your Idols: Foreword
In the rock world, the reason that alternative views are so frightening to conservative critics is that they require these cultural arbiters to keep listening and grant that maybe, just maybe, the best sounds ever are still to come, instead of being forever embalmed in the amber of the past.
The only valid response that any true rock fan should have to some pompous, omniscient windbag standing at the front of the class prattling on about “the true masterpieces” and “the good old days” is to make the loudest farting noise possible.
We ought to just abandon the whole stupid idea of having a single rock canon, and instead stand ready to question and re-examine our values and assumptions at any time, while communicating with people who share our passions and thereby coming to a greater understanding not only of differing viewpoints, but of ourselves.

COUNTING THE CANON (This Rock: June 1998)
The beginnings of the story can be traced to the pre-Christian era, to the nature of ancient Jewish worship and the alterations forced upon it by the Babylonian exile, as God prepared for that perfect moment which he chose to enter into history through the Incarnation and establish his living Body, the Church.
The canon was ratified in the late fourth and early fifth centuries.
Trent's Sacrosancta decree (April 8, 1546), the first formal canonical definition of Old and New Testament Scripture, was the third formal affirmation of their inspiration in ecumenical council and at least the eighth affirmation overall.

Robert Christgau: Anthology of American Folk Music
Rock's closest analogy is 1972's Nuggets, in which critic-musician Lenny Kaye resuscitated galvanic singles by forgotten "psychedelic" garage bands and paved the way for punk.
Smith's canon stretched back to the Middle Ages and then forward to the Titanic and beyond, but its pivot foot was in the reconstruction era, when American fls were finally free to create an autonomously miscegenated culture that their white compatriots could miscegenate right back.
It would appear, after all, that the strains of '60s rock forged by Jimi Hendrix, Lou Reed, Smokey Robinson, Randy Newman, and the Nuggets collective have their proximate sources in traditions peripheral to these at best.

My previous SLR was a Canon EOS 50e with a 28-80mm f/3.5-4.5 zoom and a Sigma 70-210mm f/2.8 telephoto zoom.
I believe this is because the autofocus doesn't actually drive the lens into position until the shutter release is pressed (though it presumably works out and saves the correct focus when you press the shutter release half-way).
These were some of the first shots I took with the Canon EOS 20D, and these pages clearly demonstrate camera's the superb resolution as I have included some 'digital zoom' shots extracted at full res from the middles of other photos.

Punk rock in the U.K. was raw, cacophonous, mostly asexual, politically charged, populist, funny-looking, and brave.
The punk revolution has allowed itself to be scrutinized by academics and intellectuals, so that there is now a bona fide Punk Rock Canon with Seminal Singles and Legendary Gigs that must be cited and dissected while pop music remains captive to the market.
But it seduced rock critics even more quickly, and it was the critics who expanded the audience, reified the punk aesthetic, and generated the canon that we have to grapple with today.

A working bluesman since his teenage years in the early 1950s, Johnny "Guitar" Watson scored numerous chart successes in the 1970s with a unique guitar-based sound that mixed the feel and instrumental technique of the blues with the bass-heavy sound of funk.
Admired by guitarists specializing in various styles of music, and recruited as a sideman by the avant-garde rock musician Frank Zappa, Watson also excelled as a vocalist.

Cheaper - The Canon iP1500 got a couple votes, and it is, indeed, even cheaper than the iP3000 at a street price under $50.
