CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Canons and Canonesses Regular
A long dissertation on the dress of the canons regular was presented to the pope by jurisconsult, Zaccaria Ferreri, who maintained that, with the exception of the rochet, the canons regular, like the secular clergy, had no fixed dress.
To this we may add that when a controversy arose between the Benedictine monks and the canons regular with regard to precedence, the question was settled by Pius V in favour of the canons, on account of their Apostolic origin.
The Canons Regular of the Lateran Congregation are at Bodmin, Truro, St. Ives, and Newquay, in Cornwall; at Spettisbury and Swanage, in dorsetshire; at Stroud Green and Eltahm, in London.

At the heart of the spirituality of canons regular is their profound relationship with the Eucharistic Mystery under its two aspects of sacrifice and sacrament.
For this reason community life among the Canons Regular of the New Jerusalem is characterized by a simplicity in which the sacrifice of certain goods promotes a greater communion among the brethren and growth in their perfection of charity.

On their side there was the recognition of the validity of the new rite of the Mass and of the legitimacy of Vatican Council II, though proposing to keep up respectful and honest discussion on some less clear Council texts, on some interpretations of those texts and on some developments after Vatican II.
At a 2002 Vatican news conference, Castrillon blamed a culture of “pan-sexuality and sexual licentiousness” for some priests committing pedophilia and said formulas must be found to punish abusers that do not conflict with “fundamental principles of the church,” leading some critics to wonder whether the Vatican was taking the matter seriously enough.

Many gifted scholars and writers participated in an English rendering of the Jerusalem Bible (J. Tolkien, for example, did the Book of Job) yet there was criticism of the work because it was a re-translation from the French.
The New Jerusalem Bible again worked from the most recent accepted and examined sources available, and was a direct rendering into contemporary English.
Lacking are the extended foot-notes and introductory essays of the full-size version, which can add much to the reader's appreciation of the organization of the text and the background of its writing.

Bishop Bernard Fellay understands all of this, which is why he is refusing to make an agreement with the Holy See on the canonical status of the Society of Saint Pius X that would involve silencing the Society's priests and laity from critiquing the Novus Ordo and the novelties of the conciliar and postconciliar eras.
Indeed, the extent of the difference between the positions taken by Bishop Rifan before his community's "regularization" in December of 2001 and his carefully measured words and confusing actions since that time can be see simply be reading Dr. David Allen White's The Mouth of the Lion.
That is why the entire conciliar foundation for the so-called "liturgical reform," Sacrosanctum Concilium, was bound to produce rotten fruit as it was premised upon the false, antiquarian presuppositions of Pius Parsch and other leaders of the Liturgical Movement.

CHRIST OR CHAOS November 11 (nov11coc.htm)
The only antidote to all of this is for traditional Catholics to have a regular parish life with a priest who really wants to be their pastor, one who wants to shepherd them home safely to an unending Easter Sunday of glory in Paradise.
There needs to be an Apostolic Administration, an entity that will help to attenuate the needless antagonisms that have grown up in recent years and that will therefore help traditional Catholics concentrate on the sanctification and salvation of their souls in an environment of safety, security, and love.
It is a petition to the Pope for canonical protection so that priests may freely say the Mass that was never abrogated - the Traditional Latin Mass - without reprisal from their local bishops.
