Pemex raised output at Cantarell with a $10.5 billion, 15-year project begun in 1997 under which it is injecting 1.2 billion cubic feet a day of compressed nitrogen into the deposit to reverse pressure loss.
Cantarell supplies about two thirds of Mexico's 3.4 million barrels a day in crude oil output, producing 2.2 million barrels a day of heavy crude.
Ramirez said Thursday that the decline in Cantarell, originally expected last year, has been delayed until 2006, when the deposits are expected to begin declining at a rate of 14% a year.

Offshore Technology - Cantarell Oil Field - Gulf of Mexico
The Cantarell Field is Pemex Exploración y Producción’s (PEP) large, heavy oilfield, located 100km off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, in the Gulf of Mexico.
Crude oil from the field in the Bay of Campeche is transported via pipelines to tanker berths at Cayo de Arcas and to storage tanks onshore at Dos Bocas, where part of the production is exported and the balance is transported inland by pipeline.
Cantarell produces about one-third of Mexico’s total output of oil, which is approximately 1.2 million barrels per day.

Gold & Silver Forum - Pemex Says Cantarell Field to Begin Decline in 2005
Cantarell, which accounted for more than 60 percent of oil production last year, will produce an estimated 2.02 million barrels of oil in 2005, down from 2.11 million barrels per day in 2004, Vinicio Suro, planning director for Pemex's production and exploration unit, said on a conference call with investors.
The decline in Cantarell, which kicked off Mexico's oil boom with its discovery in the late 1970s, is earlier than Pemex predictions of it starting in 2006, said John Padilla, director of IPD Latin America, a Houston-based energy consultant firm.
The smaller fields Pemex is tapping may not be enough to make up for the output reduction in Cantarell, which is forecast to decline at rates of more than 10 percent in later years.

18, 1998 Cantarell, the huge offshore field that has been a pillar of Mexican crude oil production for the last 17 years, will receive some 20 billion pesos in new investment this year as Pemex pushes to lift daily production from 1.2 million to 1.4 mm bpd.
But pressure has dramatically plunged in the oil field and the average production per well has suffered a drastic decline from 35,000 bpd when the field began in the 1970's to 1400 a day now, according to Thomas Limon Hernandez, who has been director of the Cantarell Project.
Pemex is coming to the rescue with a giant project to inject nitrogen into the field, and most of those 20 bn pesos will come from private financing to companies that have won contracts to work Cantarell.

The magnetic field of one object is greater than the other, showing by this that they are mutually independent, possibly indicating that one is farther away than the other, or issues a weaker field.
Another distinctive element worth noting within this analysis to the objects is this: the combination of the magnetic field surrounding these objects, along with their displacement, gives rise to a deformation of said field that is typical to the expected within the electrodynamics of magnetic fields in continuous media.
In other words, the magnetic field generates a friction with the magnetic media present in the atmosphere, giving rise to ionization phenomena at the moment that one of them tends to move.
