During the first Roman expedition to Britain, Julius Caesar landed on the Cantiaci lands and in his writings De bello gallico considers them more civilized than the Gauls.

Adminius - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Based on coin distribution it appears that, in the early to mid 1st century AD, Adminius was ruler of the Cantiaci of eastern Kent, a kingdom which presumably fell within his father's sphere of influence.
Cunobelinus had maintained friendly relations with the Roman Empire, and it has been speculated that the elderly king had lost control to an anti-Roman faction led by his other sons, Togodumnus and Caratacus, who may have been instrumental in forcing Adminius out of power.
Alternatively, his fall may have been the result of a revolt of the Cantiaci against Catuvellaunian rule.

The main tribes in the southern part of Britain during the 1st century BC were, the Catuvellauni, in Middlesex and North London, the Atrebates, in what is now South London and Surrey, the Cantiaci in Kent and the Trinovantes in Essex.
The Cantiaci occupied the north and east of Kent.
The first kings were recorded by Caesar in his war commentaries, when Cassivellaunus, leader of the Catulleaunians sent messengers into Kent to four kings: Cingetorix, Carvilius, Taximagulus and Segonas, and ordered them to gather their men and attack Caesar’s camp.

In the south-east was the territory of the Cantiaci who became the most Romanised of British tribes as a result of their geographical location.
West of them were the Atrebates who inhabited the area in modern Dorset and Hampshire and produced an extensive coinage with the three-tailed celtic horse on the reverse.
Basically this evidence is that of the aristocratic culture of the Catuvellauni, the Trinovantes and, above all, the Cantiaci and is not an authentic ethnic culture.

Before this time, the Catuvellauni, Trinovantes and Cantiaci were very different from other British tribes.
They had been using coins for at least a century, adopted the same way of burying the dead as was practised in northern France, and eat and dressed in ways more common in France than other parts of Briton.
Already at this early date they seem to have been involved in a power struggle with the neighbouring tribes to the west who were to be forged into the kingdom of the Catuvellauni under Tasciovanus.

Although a military base was established at Canterbury soon after the conquest of AD 43 it was not until AD 110–120 that a provincial centre (civitas) for the Cantiaci was established over the remains of the Iron Age town.

 History of Canterbury
Canterbury has been the site of human occupation for at least 2,000 years, and probably a great deal longer.
Before the Romans occupied Britain, when the emperor Claudius invaded in AD 43, the area was controlled by the Cantiaci, an Iron Age tribe who established their capital around a crossing of the River Stour from about 30 BC.
Then, around AD 110-120, they built a new civitas, or provincial centre, on top of the remains of the old settlement.

When I came to Londinium a half-year since, I thought it hunched and squalid, breeding ugly humours, pestilences in amongst the jetties and the narrow yards, pooled urine yellowing there where the cobbles dip.
The locals, hulking Trinovante fishermen or shifty Cantiaci traders, had a pleasing insularity, despite their sullenness.
They kept amongst their own kind and made little fuss, yet fresh from home I thought the city Hades; they its fiends and chimaera.
