CanWest MediaWorks (NZ) Limited has been established as a holding company and will acquire CanWest RadioWorks Limited and CanWest TVWorks Limited, the companies that currently own all of the above brands, immediately after the successful completion of this offer, from the CanWest group on completion of the offer.
Following completion of the offer, the CanWest group will be the majority shareholder in CanWest MediaWorksNZ, holding approximately 70% of its shares, with the balance of the shares owned by public market investors.
Upon completion of the offer and the acquisition of the media operations, CanWest MediaWorksNZ will be a subsidiary of CanWest Global Communications Corp. (NYSE: CWG; TSX: CGS.S and CGS.A; www.canwestglobal.com), an international media company.

“The performance of our television business is particularly pleasing, and to have achieved these results in the same quarter as launching our new Campbell Live show, which had significant establishment costs, shows the core strength that exists in our TV business,” said CanWest MediaWorks CEO, Brent Impey.

A dual listing for Prime would be the second taste of a free-to-air television network for investors, after the flotation of CanWest MediaWorks last year.
Mr Taylor said the New Zealand operations made a $NZ6.8 million ($A6.27 million) loss last year and was looking at a loss of about $NZ3.5 million for the year to June 2005.
Prime Television New Zealand has made substantial losses since it was established in 1998 - but Mr Taylor said they had been narrowing since a deal in 2001 with Australia's Nine Network which gave Nine the option to buy 50 per cent of Prime New Zealand in return for programming, marketing and managerial support.
