The 2000 Cao Yu Drama Literature Awards were announced Saturday in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
Cao Yu, born in Tianjin in 1910, was China's top playwright and founding father of the country's modern dramas.
Cao published his first play "Thunderstorm" in 1934 when he was only 24 years old.

In 190, Xiahou Dun joined Cao Cao as the latter was raising an army to join the coalition against Dong Zhuo, the tyrannical warlord who held the emperor hostage.
At that time, Cao Cao was leading a campaign against Tao Qian (陶謙), the governor of the Xuzhou (徐州, present day northern Jiangsu) whom Cao Cao accused of killing his father, leaving Xiahou Dun to guard the city of Puyang (濮陽).
After the death of Cao Cao in 220, his successor Cao Pi forced the last emperor of the Han Dynasty to abdicate and subsequently assumed the throne as the first emperor of the Kingdom of Wei.
