Capcom Fighting Evolution gives you a small (more on this later) collection of characters from several of their classic fighting games, you get your choice of Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter 3, Street Fighter Alpha, Dark Stalkers and the never heard of Red Earth fighting games to choose your characters.
Capcom has made 2D fighters in this next generation 3D fighting world look great, and the decision to not do this on Capcom Fighting Evolution is a bad choice in my mind.

The fighting itself moves at a decent rate with responsive movements and attacks from the existing characters, however innovation is light with little in the way of new moves or tricks to choose from.
Capcom Fighting Evolution includes many of Capcom's older franchises, and it would have been a golden opportunity to update some of these classic characters.
Fighting Evolution feels like an afterthought, and most players will be much happier purchasing the recently released, and much better, Street Fighter Anniversary Edition instead.

With that said, Capcom continues the tradition of the 2-D fighter with the recent release of Capcom Fighting Evolution, which is a good concept in hindsight, but quickly turns into a flawed fighter that is average in comparison to the Street Fighter Collection.
You get a very old fighting system that is too tight to enjoy, a set of characters that give you variety in terms of who you can select, but no variety in terms of what they can do that’s ‘new’.
I think that Capcom wanted this game to be carried by the various different characters from different Capcom titles, but beyond that, there’s really no great substance to Fighting Evolution.

Capcom Fighting Evolution for PlayStation 2 Review - PlayStation 2 Capcom Fighting Evolution Review
Capcom Fighting Evolution is essentially a typical one-on-one 2D fighting game, in which you compete with either another player or a computer-controlled opponent in best-of-three-round martial-arts matches.
Capcom Fighting Evolution also features different systems, but these are dependent on the characters you choose and the games they come from.
At the same time, Capcom Fighting Evolution is the umpteenth game to recycle these same graphics, sounds, and mechanics, so unless you're dying to experience some of the strange matchups possible here, you could just as well go back to playing whichever games all these fighters hailed from.

Usually when I have a run-in with nostalgia, it turns in to one big disappointment, as I learn the memories of whatever it is I thought I liked are far more fun than the actual object or hobby.
That in mind, I went into this game with a touch of trepidation, fearing that my memories of old-school Capcom fighting games had been fogged by nostalgia, and it would turn out that the games weren’t nearly as fun as I thought.
Even compared to the cavalcade of different modes that Capcom squeezed into their Dreamcast fighting games five years ago, the number of modes available in CFE is quite sparse.

Granted, Capcom nostalgia abounds and there’s plenty of fighting, but to evolve something requires a change, and Capcom Fighting Evolution fails to evolve the genre or even revolutionize it.
The fighting engine itself is solid enough, sure, but they could have done so much more with the first Capcom-only crossover fighter.
Crossover fighters should be about fan service, yes, but Capcom Fighting Evolution seems more about taking advantage of the fans with a barebones cash-in that won’t do much to satiate their appetite for a strong, worthwhile 2D fighter.

Capcom Fight Evolution must have been born in the same brainstorming session that brought the gaming world Street Fighter Anniversary Collection.
After all, both titles are interesting ideas that were so haphazardly implemented that any enjoyment such a unique experience could bring was negated by a lack of care and concern on the part of the developers.
Capcom Fight Evolution, however, has no saving grace, leaving it, like the all-girl and highschool fighters, as a novelty of the genre.

Capcom Fighting Evolution, known as Capcom Fighting Jam (Japanese: カプコン ファイティング ジャム) outside of North America is a fighting game from Capcom.
The game generally wasn't well received due to the fact that all of the characters except Ingrid were literally copy-and-pasted from their respective games except with drastically cut-down animation frames (the "SFII" characters actually came from Capcom vs. SNK 2).
Comparisons were instantly drawn to the similar Capcom VS series games and the gameplay of this newest fighter seemed to lacked the finesse of those earlier games.

The evolution of Street Fighter was a long, slow process marked by these various microevolutionary changes over the course of nearly a decade until Capcom finally released the next evolution of the game with the long awaitedStreet Fighter III.
