Crow - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Crows, and especially ravens, often feature in legends or mythology as portents or harbingers of doom or death, because of their dark plumage, unnerving calls, and tendency to eat carrion.
In mythology and folklore as a whole, crows tend to be symbolic more of the spiritual aspect of death, or the transition of the spirit into the afterlife, whereas ravens tend more often to be associated with the negative (physical) aspect of death.
Amongst Neopagans, crows are often thought to be highly psychic and are associated with the element of ether or spirit, rather than the element of air as with most other birds.

 Crow
The true crows are in the genus Corvus; they are large Passerine birds.
As a group they show remarkable examples of intelligence and one species, the New Caledonian Crow, has recently been intensively studied because of its ability to manufacture and use its own tools in the day-to-day finding of food.
Crows appear to have evolved in central Asia and radiated out into North America (including Mexico), Africa, Europe, and Australia.

During the 20th Century the species increased in numbers probably due to the introduction of large scale farming which helped provide the open habitat favoured by this bird.

Cape May Court House - Cape May County Health Officer Louis J. Lamanna announced that the Health Department received confirmation that two crow specimens submitted for testing to the New Jersey State Department of Health and Senior Services Laboratory, tested positive for West Nile Virus.
The Cape May County Health Department, in conjunction with the Center for Disease Control, the New Jersey State Department of Health and Senior Services, and the Cape May County Mosquito Commission, continues to solicit crow specimens for testing and is asking all residents to be on the alert for dead crows.
Past testing has determined that crows are the most susceptible of all bird species to the West Nile Virus and, therefore, the best indicator for detecting the presence of West Nile Virus; however, hawks and falcons will also be considered for testing.

Cape Girardeau is the last big town on the upper Mississippi.
Cape Girardeau residents say their town has never had the kind of racial troubles of that area ("It has southern elements," says one, "but Cape Girardeau is not the South"), but an event last summer has forced this town of 40,000 to confront some unsettling realities about race and policing.
Even more fundamental, some fl residents say, is that there is a segment Cape Girardeau's white population that believes the police should be using force early and often to keep the town's fl residents in line.

If the crows captured here during the latter half of April and during :May are assumed to be local breeders, the follomqng may be permanent residents.
