The Yarra River Trail is a shared use path for cyclists and pedestrians which follows the Yarra River through the north eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
The trail follows the river from near its mouth, through the city and suburbs to Westerfolds Park and Eltham.
The trail goes under the Princes Bridge next to Flinders Street Station, which is the starting point for the St Kilda road cycling lane to St Kilda beach; and Swanston street, a major cycling route through the city to Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology city campus, Melbourne University and the inner northern suburbs.

Although it forms part of the Capital City Bicycle Trail, bicycle riding is not permitted along the stretch.

A State Trail Pass is required for anybody 16 years of age or older biking, skating, or roller-skiing on the E-way segment.

The Victorian Government's vision to link the existing parks and river trails with a continuous pathway is commonly known as the Capital City Trail.
Melbourne's reputation as a "liveable city" can be attributed in large measure to its heritage of gracious central city parks, leafy boulevards and river corridors.

The trail's jewel - and the "official" Capital City State Trail - is the 9.5-mile section that is within the Capital Springs Centennial State Park and Recreation Area.

Capital City Trail: A new fee of $10 a year or $3 daily for users of the paved trail, which runs south of Madison and was completed two years ago.
Horse, mountain bike and ski trails: On all park trails except the Capital City Trail, the permit is now $15 a year or $3 daily.
The proposal would break down trail users, charging yearly fees of $16 for a ski permit, $15 for a horse permit and $10 for a mountain biking permit.

The City of Fitchburg has started to clear the Capital City trail during the winter.
This trail is my main route during the summer, but last winter, it was full of snow.
It was great to run on a cleared trail and I was surprised at the number of foot prints and tire marks from others using the trail.

Bicyclists who commute on the Capital City Trail might be exempt from a new trail fee.
Recreational bicyclists and in-line skaters 16 years or older would still have to pay a $3 daily fee or $10 annual state trail fee, under the proposal, which is expected to be introduced at 7:30 tonight at the Dane County Board.
If approved, the $5,000 pilot program for free state trail passes would be paid for through a transfer of funds from the county highway department to the county parks department, said County Board Sup.

The Lochside Trail, a 27-kilometre route connecting Sidney to Victoria, is a natural way to cycle to British Columbia’s capital city.
The trail travels along coastal roadways, between farms, under canopies of trees and through ocean-view communities.
Sadly, this tour was nearing its end, but the peaceful trails and easy access to further cycling adventures had indeed proved Victoria to be "the cycle capital of Canada." The islands were already calling me back.
