 | | In 1760/61 Hans Jerg Kehl and his family migrated west to the Capon Valley of Hampshire County, Virginia (later West Virginia), and settled on the west bank of Capon river, about 90 miles west of Washington, DC. |
 | | Throughout the generations, our line of the Cale family moved steadily westward—landing in Philadelphia, and settling 70 miles west of Philadelphia, then migrating to Capon Bridge, West Virginia, another 170 miles west, then to Guernsey County, Ohio, 245 miles west, and finally to Afton, Iowa, 750 miles west, over a period of 125 years. |
