Gangrel (World of Darkness) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Gangrel are associated with Gypsies, transmogrification, and vagrants.
In the Dark Ages, the Gangrel were the vampires most commonly associated with the Road of the Beast, which dictates a life based on instinct, similar to that of an animal (living in the immediate present, having no morality, killing whenever necessary but only then).
After his release from the World Wrestling Federation, Heath was unable to use the Gangrel name, and reverted back to the wrestling name of Vampire Warrior, which he had used prior to his WWF tenure.

 World of Darkness: RUSSIA
Contact with the world outside of Russia will be minimal, except as history dictates, and the global influence of such World of Darkness groups as the Camarilla and the Sabbat will be ignored.
Their primary character will be either an elder vampire created using the rules in Elysium, an experienced mage using house rules based on Sorcerers Crusade and modified in accordance with the Elysium rules or some other elder style character developed with the input and approval of the Storyteller.
This was the beginning of a breaking of Russian kindred from the world politics of their brethren.

Ghost Signs - Dark Ages: Cappadocian by Andrew Bates   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-11)
There are the run of the mill Cappadocians who are contemplative and given to prophecy, the Lamia - guardians and warrior maidens, Giovanni - necromancers and entrepreneurs, and even Lazerene apostates who are seeking the secrets of resurrection.
Racing against time to stop him is the Cappadocian seeress Constancia, who has seen that if the Lazerenes gain the powers of the codex, all hope for Michael's dream of a culture of vampires will turn to dust.
"Cappadocian" is a great example of how simultaneously elegant and adventurous the combination of blood, madness and mysticism can be.

The Cappadocians were a clan devoted to the study of death in all of its forms, and their downfall was the embrace of the Ventian necormance, Augustus Giovanni.
Cappadocius had already thinned the ranks of his childer by sealing those he felt were unworthy in the underground city of Kaymakli.
The table of contents is absolutely useless (like in all of WW's books) and it's all filled with various stories and various jabber and in depth explanation of their opinions on various matters, but no concise descriptions of the clan and their nature and history (like in the corebook).

Cappadocians themselves studied only death, and found the Necromantic arts of the Giovanni family mildly distasteful, but ultimately a useful source of information.
When the Giovanni usurped and killed their Cappadocian fathers, they too, like the Tremere, were forced to find a way of powering their now lost necromantic abilities with Vampiric Vitae.
Rather, it is a collection of hodge-podge methods and folk-remedies, learnt and kept alive by the Giovanni family for centuries pior to their induction into and eventual usurpation of Clan Cappadocian.

The Baali are a fictional bloodline of vampires, from White Wolf Game Studio's Vampire: The Masquerade and Vampire: The Dark Ages books and role-playing games.
Thematically speaking, this is because a bloodline of Satanist vampires is more appropriate in a game set during the Middle Ages and focusing primarily on religion, and less appropriate in a game set during the modern era and focusing on moral ambiguity.

The SF Site Featured Review: Guide to the Sabbat
The Sabbat is one of the most complex elements of the Vampire: The Masquerade and World of Darkness mythology.
Sabbat Primer 101 (heavily simplified): the Sabbat is a sect of vampires (no fussy "Kindred" for them -- they know what they are and don't shy from it) that rebelled against their elders, rejecting their games and actively declaring war on them.
Yes, the vampires of Sabbat were the wild and bloody creatures they had always been portrayed as, but the Sabbat also had a deeply ritual side and a strong hierarchy that kept the anarchic sect from flying apart.

The Tremere are likewise close to their past as mages and Keepers of the World reinforces the sense that at this time they are still wielders of "magick" first and vampires second.
Clanbook: Cappadocian is also available, bringing the total covered to seven (counting Clanbook: Baali and the forthcoming Clanbook: Salubri outside of the clan total of thirteen).
If the original idea to produce clanbooks was good, the Dark Ages supplements are great, adding a new layer of historical detail to the World of Darkness.

This novel's protagonist, Fatima al-Faqadi, is not exactly a social butterfly, but I actually find her serious, stolid approach rather refreshing for some reason (think of Roland in Stephen King's Dark Tower series and add just a touch of volatile emotion and you'll come fairly close to the sort of person Fatima is).
