Landsborough Highway is a western Queensland highway running in the northwest-southeast direction from Morven to Cloncurry.
The Landsborough Highway runs through vast tracts of land that was once occupied by William Landsborough, an Australian explorer of the 19th century.
Its importance also stems from the fact that it is the only sealed link between Flinders Highway and Capricorn Highway apart from the road between Emerald and Charters Towers.

With a population of less than 200 people and located on the Capricorn Highway 221 km west of Emerald, 83 km east of Barcaldine and 1114 km (via Rockhampton) from Brisbane, Jericho is another tiny Queensland town which has outlived its origins.
The crystals (the connection of the Biblical story with the town is, to put it mildly, rather tenuous) symbolise various moments in the Old Testament including the slavery in Egypt, the parting of the Red Sea, the receiving of the Ten Commandments, the crossing of the River Jordan and the arrival in the Promised Land.
The monument is located on the Capricorn Highway in front of the Shire Office.

:''Tropic of Capricorn is also the name of a novel by Henry Miller, first published in 1939.'' The Tropic of Capricorn is one of the five major ''circles of latitude'' that mark maps of the Earth.
This is the parallel of latitude that runs 23° 26' 22" south of the Equator, and is the farthest southern latitude at which the sun can appear directly overhead.
This line is called the Tropic of Capricorn because about 2000 years ago, when it was named, the sun appeared directly overhead, at this latitude, during the winter solstice, it was entering the zodiac sign of Capricorn.

It lies along the Capricorn Highway, 100 miles (160 km) west of Rockhampton.
The explorer Ludwig Leichhardt noted the presence of coal in the area in 1844–45; the town was laid out in 1886 and given its name because of the dark colour of the local waterholes, but until 1962 its population remained at about 25.
Its symptoms include a rapid pulse, high fever and chills, extreme prostration, a rapidly developing anemia, and the passage of urine that is fl or dark red in colour (hence the disease's name).
