Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew is a DC Comics comic book property about a team of funny animal superheroes called the Zoo Crew.
Eventually, readers (and the Zoo Crew) were introduced to the parallel Earth of "Earth-C-Minus," which turned out to be the home of the "Justa Lotta Animals" (a parody of the Justice League of America) and whose world was an all-animal reflection of the mainstream DC Universe.
The source of these carrots was initially a windowbox which he grew carrots in, which one of the meteor fragments had struck.

Geoff Johns, along with Captain Carrot and the Amazing Zoo Crew creator Scott Shaw!, does what appears to be the impossible; he brings back Captain Carrot.
How Johns is able to interweave the Carrot storyline and the Titans storyline is not quite pure genius, it has been done before after all, but it's a hell of an homage to Watchmen..., up to and including the Watchmen-like “style” of the Carrot book that is being read within the Titans story.

Comic Book Resources - CBR News - The Comic Wire
Created in 1982 and making their first appearance as part of an insert in the pages of "New Teen Titans" #16, Captain Carrot was, at the time, DC Comics' first journey into the world of funny animal superheroes in decades.
1986 saw the release of the Captain Carrot special "The Oz-Wonderland Wars," but aside from a brief appearance in the Evan Dorkin penned "Superman/Batman: World's Funnest" and an unofficial appearance in Gail Simone's YOU'LL ALL BE SORRY column here at CBR, the Zoo Crew hasn't been heard from much since then.
The fondness many fans still have for "Captain Carrot & His Amazing Zoo Crew" 20 years after their first appearance is sort of remarkable.
