Lewis notes that, "in most places and times, the fairy tale has not been specially made for, nor exclusively enjoyed by, children." It became unfashionable in literary circles and was banished to the nursery.
Lewis said that, "we should meet children as equals in that area of our nature where we are their equals." I believe good children's literature is a book that can attract young readers as well as older readers.
Lewis states that, "...a children's story which is enjoyed only by children is a bad story." Elaborating upon this further we may say that, at times age is irrelevant of whether the book is appropriate.
