Together with Lieutenant Green, Captains Scarlet and Blue are sent to the moon to investigate claims by the Lunar Controller that he has established contact with the Mysterons and succeeded in coming to a peaceful agreement.
Arriving at the base, Captains Scarlet and Blue are on hand as the rocket suddenly reappears on the radar and it is discovered that Base Concorde is its target.
Captain Scarlet and Blue are assigned to escort the leading astrophysicist Dr Conrad to a special conference in Switzerland - the purpose of the conference, to decide the method and purpose of man's return to Mars.

When Scarlet issues himself to fetch their coats, Blue instantaneously disappears, and when awakening, finds himself sitting in Lieutenant Green's chair back on Cloudbase, with a Spectrum Intelligence agent, who calls himself Colgan, sitting in Colonel White's chair.

Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons was the first new Anderson television series since the start of TV Century 21 nearly three years previously.
Scarlet survives, hurling himself to the ground, and manages to ride one of the elephants on to the observatory.
Scarlet's vow of a personal, as opposed to a professional and military, agenda against the Mysterons as a result of this promise more for the character, but sadly does not seem to be followed up.

This is another movie produced by ITC's New York offices in 1981 comprising several episodes of Captain Scarlet into a movie.
This movie is less faithful to the original material than the previous ITC New York produced 'Revenge of the Mysteron's from Mars';, and it has some annoying moments.
The Mysteron voice speaking in this additional scene has an American accent that doesn't fit with the other material which has Mysteron voices by Donald Gray, who had a very strong English accent.

The Mysterons are back after a 20 year hiatus, and the discredited "plain clothes" division of Spectrum makes way for the "patterned division", and Captain Tartan, the only puppet left in Cloudbase after the Blue Fairy made the rest human.
Cluedo -- the boss of Cloudbase is the newly promoted Colonel Mustard, the communications guy got religion and is now Reverend Green, and a particular indestructible Captain has had a sex change to become Miss Scarlet.
And then there were the chats between the Mysteron circles in high squeaky voices, before they remembered to use "the scary voice" to talk to the humans.
