		This is the latest Sword of Truth novel (number seven, and counting); the inside cover bills it as "A novel of the nobility of the human spirit".
		Given some of the rather dirty politics that went on (almost like real life), and given the fact that Kahlan was beaten to an inch of her life in the process, Richard became disillusioned with the whole effort, and decided that he no longer wanted any part in saving the Midlands from the invasion.

		it says cara can travel because she captured the power of the dude from tow.
		When Cara captures the Legate Rishi, his magic is described as "wavering flares of light and undulating flutters of darkness" (aka - additive and subtractive magic).
		Besides travelling through the Sliph (and in Cara's case, knowing the message of the Temple of the Winds), all a Mord-sith can do with their captured magic is to use it against the victim in the form of giving them pain.
