Sanskrit and Pallava were the writing systems of the past, but the Javanesse were able to create their own writing system which is the “Hanacaraka” or the “Carakan”.
So strong was the Javanesse influence around the Nusantara, the Hanacaraka/Carakan was also used by their neighbours and vessel kingdoms.The Balinesse Carakan has enough variety to distinct their Carakan from the Javanesse Carakan.
There are additional consonants in the Balinesse Carakan, and they are used for writing words from the Kawi (Old Javanese) language.
