Carbon paper - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Carbon paper (originally carbonic paper) is paper coated on one side with a layer of a loosely bound dry ink or pigmented coating, usually bound with wax.
As the ink is transferred from the carbon paper to the underlying paper, an impression of the corresponding text is left on the "carbon" where the ink was removed.
Carbon paper used to create sensitive documents can be subjected to forensic analysis and is thus a concern for information security, so it must be shredded or otherwise destroyed to maintain security.

Carbon copy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
, was originally the technique of using carbon paper to produce one or more copies simultaneously with the creation of paper documents.
On an old-fashioned typewriter, this would be done by placing carbon paper sheets between two or more sheets of paper in the machine, so that whatever was typed on the front sheet was copied onto the other sheets.
This practice declined with the advent of photocopying and other electronic means, although it is still used, for example, in manual receipt books which have a multiple-use sheet of carbon paper supplied, in order that the user can keep an exact copy of each receipt issued.

 Aerogel Carbon Paper
Nanofoam carbon paper is an alternative to woven carbon cloth for electrodes and are superior to woven carbon fiber electrodes in many applications because of their high surface area, low resistance and high relative capacitance.
Carbon nanofoams are being used as lightweight, high temperature insulation, absorbents and coatings, specialty optics, and electrodes for water deionization cells, fuel cells, and other devices.
Carbon nanofoams precursors can be infiltrated into a carbon fiber mat that, when carbonized, will result in paper-like electrode material 0.007 to 0.050" thick.

The first recorded use of the term "carbon paper" for the pigmented sheet was by Englishman Ralph Wedgwood in 1806.
Carbon paper continues to be manufactured and sold today, though its use is far more limited than in times past.
While carbon paper is still manufactured and sold, demand decreased dramatically with the introduction of a practical photocopying machine in the 1960, the introduction of "carbonless" forms in the 1950s, and the widespread use of word-processing hardware and software in the 1980s.

Carbon Bond: University of Utah News Release: June 27, 2001
Students in organic and biochemistry are taught that the longest common carbon bond is found in diamond, a form of pure carbon.
While potential applications of such basic research are difficult to predict, Miller said the new kind of carbon bond may be important in efforts to develop nanomaterials,” which are bigger than typical molecules but smaller than the smallest manufactured parts and are being studied for possible use in faster computers, display devices and micromachines.
The chemical structure of the compounds and the distances between their carbon atoms were known previously, “but they were not appreciated as a genuine carbon-carbon bond,” he added.

Carbon Paper is Cheaper--the billions no one wanted | pingVision
There was carbon paper - a sheet that slipped between two pieces of paper and when the typewriter hammers struck the paper, the carbon made a blurry, but readable image on the paper below.
The carbons could be stacked and six to eight ever blurrier images generated - depending on how fresh the carbon paper was and how hard the typewriter hammers could be driven into the paper.
Naturally, there was time for humor when the carbon paper's face got reversed and the back of the page produced the mirror image of the front.
