Carcass - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A carcass (or carcase) is a term for a dead body, typically that of an animal.
In cabinet making, carcass (or carcase) is the structure of a cabinet or other types of enclosed furniture such as desks, bookcases, sideboards, etc. Carcases are usually constructed either with flat panels of plywood, medium density fiberboard or particle board, or using the more traditional frame and panel construction.
Carcass was the name of a death metal/grindcore band: see Carcass (band).

Predicting Beef Carcass Merit   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
Carcass merit prediction based on live cattle measures can also provide an alternative to sire progeny tests that are currently used to collect data for expected progeny difference calculations of carcass merit.
Carcass measurements used to predict the percentage of retail product were the percentage of kidney, pelvic and heart fat (% KPH); the adjusted 12-13th rib fat thickness; carcass ribeye area; and hot carcass weight.
Using only carcass measurements of hot carcass weight, marbling score, fat thickness and % KPH, 68 and 82% of the variation in pounds of fat trim and fat trim weight expressed as a percentage of carcass weight, respectively, were accounted for by the pre-diction equations.

Factors Affecting Goat Carcass Yield & Quality   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
Carcasses of meat animals are generally evaluated commercially in terms of yield and quality of lean.
The dressing percentage of slaughter goats may be influenced by age, weight, sex, body condition, amount of gut fill at slaughter, whether the carcass is weighed hot or cold and, of course, by the number of body components included in the yield calculation.
Carcass characteristics of slaughter goats may be affected by a number of genetic and environmental conditions as well as specific herd management decisions.

The Canadian Pork Carcass Grading System and the 1992 National Carcass Cut Out
The average carcass was given an index of 100, with carcasses leaner or fatter than the average given indexes above or below 100 depending on their expected cutout value.
Generally, the most precise estimates of pork carcass composition are provided by fat thickness measurements measured lateral to the dorsal mid-line (Table 3) and tend to reach a maximum value between the 12th rib and last rib.
Carcasses are passed through an electromagnetic field and the amount of energy absorption detected is related to the conductive mass of the carcass or meat cuts.

Differences Among Breeds, Breed Origins and Gender for Carcass Composition and Pork Quality
Carcass yield, as estimated from the grading probe, appears in two ways because the grading system changed in the middle of the experiment.
Carcass index is shown with two different analyses; one uses weight as a covariate because slaughter weight differed slightly between breeds and sexes.
Estimated carcass yield is not a particularly good measure of carcass leanness, which is better estimated by dissected lean content of the three primal cuts.

Carcass' "Choice Cuts" - the long-awaited cd featuring the band's greatest "hits" as well as live tracks recorded with the late John Peel is now available worldwide.
Carcass need no introduction at all - simply put, to their legions of devotees worldwide, the band made some of the most significant extreme music ever released, and spawned not only the gore/grind scene, but made a dramatic impact on the melodic death metal scene with their last two albums.
When Carcass split I naturally felt a sense of loss - the band was like a child I'd helped to rear, and as a band we were very close to each other and good friends.

 Carcass - Crepitant Grindcore
Drumming is the same precise, varied, tempo-shifting fluidity that Carcass used on their last album; there is substantial double-bass drum playing, a lot of quick-footed tempo dives and ascensions, and occasional moments of peculiar intricacy.
Review: Carcass founded much of what grindcore would become by managing complexity and compositional coherence through simple riffs without compromising the extremity of their art; the subtle difference lurked almost entirely in the distinctiveness of their riffs and songs because of their compositional centering in melody.
Evident is the futility of competition by recent Carcass material for metalhead appreciation when up against the very tracks that defined the style rennovating grindcore from random rhythmic violence into coordinated, strict, and virulent pieces of evocative, communicative music.

However, few people who picked up on a band called Carcass, and their splatter-fest Earache debut 'Reek of Putrefaction' (1988), could fail to see the true progression represented by today's incarnation.
Aggressive yet melodic, influenced by traditional metal sounds but uncompromisingly relevant in an age of passing trends and marketing politics, Carcass '96 is a cultured beast.
Carcass have never done the obvious, and 'Swansong' echoes the frustrations and personal trials of a band intent on going against the grain, confident in the knowledge that they are doing something different.

This study was conducted to determine the feasibility of predicting carcass composition based on a single cross-sectional measurement using DXA (dual energy X-ray absorptiometry).
The DXA total carcass scan is too slow for on-line slaughter application; therefore, studies were conducted to determine the feasibility of predicting carcass composition based on a single cross-sectional measurement.
The results of this study are consistent with those of other studies that indicate that the composition of a cross-section of the pork carcass is highly correlated with the composition of the entire carcass.

On Swansong, Carcass mixes death metal downtuned guitars with true rock and roll aesthetics to make an energetic album.
There is a lot of ear candy on this album such as the Iron Maiden-influenced guitar lead harmonies heard in "Keep On Rotting In the Free World" and in parts of "Tomorrow Belongs To Nobody" among others.
As a straightforward metal/rock album, Swansong is on a level equal with groups like Entombed; thus, it stands on a pillar far above bands such as Godsmack (who lack any creativity whatsoever) and likely the only thing keeping this from American radios is the roughness of the vocals.
