A particularly interesting fact is that the Disney surname derives from the canton of Isigny, the earliest ancestor of Walt Disney being Jean-Christophe d'Isigny, whose name translates to "of Isigny".
The canton of Isigny sur Mer includes 24 communes: Asnières en Bessin, La Cambe, Canchy, Cardonville, Cartigny-l'Épinay, Castilly, Cricqueville en Bessin, Deux Jumeaux, Englesqueville la Percée, La Folie, Géfosse-Fontenay, Grandcamp-Maisy, Isigny sur Mer, Lison, Longueville, Monfréville, Neuilly-la Forêt, Osmanville, Les Oubeaux, Sainte Marguerite d'Elle, Saint Germain du Pert, Saint-Marcouf, Saint-Pierre du Mont and Vouilly.

During the morning of June 8, D Company manoeuvred to the right flank to the northwest of Norrey, to Cardonville Farm, which was until then, occupied by some of the Winnipeg Rifles.
This tactic was to tighten up the Battalion's defensive position and to fill in the gap between C Company and the positions of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles.
Part of the 26th SS Panzer Regiment drove in a left flanking attack against the Regina Rifles at Norrey and Cardonville, and the Royal Winnipeg Rifles and Canadian Scottish at Putot.

The 116th Regiment was put at rest in Cardonville area.

In an account I read recently of the Ferme de Cardonville battle by Capt. G.
Brown he mentioned that he did not get a chance to file reports of the action hence troops missed out on a possible well deserved award for this amazing stand by the John's (Regina Rifles).

The 2nd Company managed to move quickly past Norrey and charge across the embankment.
However, the failure of the other two formations forced the extended 2nd Company to withdraw and entrench itself behind the embankment and within Cardonville " a group of houses near the edge of Bretteville.
The Regina Rifle War Diary described the assault as a minor "counter-attack."
