Star Trek: Voyager - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Star Trek: Voyager is a science fiction television series set in the Star Trek universe.
It was produced for seven seasons from 1995 to 2001, and is the only Star Trek series to have a female captain as a lead character.
In the Star Trek series, the examination of humanity is typically explored by contrasting non-human characters with human ones (for instance, the Earth-born Kirk and McCoy against the Vulcan Spock).

Ex Astris Scientia - Religion in Star Trek
Star Trek's takes on religious topics are often critical, and they almost routinely close with a victory of science over faith.
Star Trek frequently shows that there is someone or something indeed, only that this is always a "false god" that would not deserve to be worshipped.
Star Trek itself has discussed spiritual issues without a reference to a god countless times, it is full of spirituality that just pretends to be of profane scientific nature.

"Star Trek: Voyager premiered on January 16, 1995 with the episode "Caretaker".
I was instantly enthralled with the story, a Maquis Raider and the U.S.S. Voyager on the other side of the galaxy, brought there by a very powerful being, and marooned there by a Captain that stuck to her guns and lived the principles that Starfleet was supposed to operate under, even if it was inconvenient.
In the blink of an eye, the Star Trek Universe included races and cultures totally unmentioned before, and a part of the galaxy not talked about thus far.

 IGN: UPN Cancels Enterprise
From the original removal of the words Star Trek from the title to the easy listening, top 40 theme tune, Enterprise represented everything that had gone horribly wrong with the franchise.
Star Trek: the Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine were both produced for first run syndication and the budget could be restructured to allow Enterprise to continue in that way.
One thing is for sure, the next season on UPN will be the first it has ever had without a Star Trek series on the schedule and we're probably at least 2 years away from seeing any new Trek project hit any screen, large or small.

But the success of both Trek IV and the marketing bonanza that was Star Trek's 20th anniversary in 1986 led Paramount back to the small screen, giving Gene Roddenberry the opportunity to revisit Star Trek in its original medium.
Star Trek: The Next Generation was the result, and upon its premiere in the fall of 1987, it was clear that the show took its cue from the movies rather than the original series.
That film almost killed the classic Trek movie franchise, and producer Harve Bennett was in the process of reluctantly drawing up plans for a "young Kirk and Spock at Starfleet Academy" film when Paramount relented and asked for one last classic Trek film.
