Prof TED STANLEY: Carfentanyl is ten times stronger than sufentanyl, a hundred times stronger than fentanyl and ten thousand times stronger than morphine.
Carfentanyl is so strong it can knock out the world’s most powerful animals.
Carfentanyl is so potent that a safe dose for each person would need to be infinitesimal, getting it right would be critical.

Carfentanyl binds to the human opiate receptor thousands of times stronger than morphine or heroin does.
Indeed, the fentanyl family of synthetic opiates was developed as rapid-acting, high-potency anesthesia medication: carfentanyl overdose causes death by rapidly sedating the individual and halting breathing.

Knockout gas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Russian security forces used a powerful airborne anaesthetic called KOLOKOL-1 during the Moscow theater hostage crisis of 2002, sedating terrorists and hostages alike before storming the building.
Although the exact composition of the gas was not identified at the time, subsequent investigations suggested that it contained carfentanyl, halothane, or a combination of the two.
Due to a mixture of unintentional overdosing and the lack of prompt subsequent medical treatment, over 120 of the hostages died from the effects of the gas.

These compounds took at least seven critical seconds to take effect, scientists say, and could easily kill by suppressing breathing.

This has been regarded as important in the adaptive changes associated with morphine.
