Carl Davis (b 1936) is an American composer who has been living in the UK for the past two decades.
Carl Davis was born in (A Mid-Atlantic state; one of the original 13 colonies) New York on October 28 1936.
He has assisted in the orchestration of the symphonic works of (English rock star and bass guitarist and songwriter who with John Lennon wrote most of the music for the Beatles (born in 1942)) Paul McCartney.

Carl Davis (b 1936) is an American conductor and composer who has been living in the UK for the past two decades.
By 1993, his reputation made him the number one choice for new scores to silent films.
Many DVD releases of the silent version of Ben-Hur (1925), Safety Last (1923), Chaplin's City Lights (1931) (re-orchestrated by Davis based on Chaplin's original written score) and Erich von Stroheim's Greed (1925), use Davis's music.

Producer and A&R man Carl Davis played a large part in Chicago soul of the '60s and '70s, although his contribution is usually unfairly overlooked by rock historians (as, indeed, Chicago soul as a whole is to some extent).
This was produced by Davis, as was another cut by the Dukays, called "Duke of Earl." This was issued as a release by Dukays' singer "Gene Chandler," and was a classic number one hit bridging doo wop and soul.
Davis worked carefully with Mayfield to extract material that Curtis thought would be inappropriate for the Impressions, usually because it was more pop-slanted and lyrically simple; of course, Mayfield was also holding back some prime material for the Impressions' use.

Carl Davis has been penning music for television and cinema on and off for many years, but this represents one of his earliest efforts for Auntie.
Davis says he went for an eastern European, Slavic flavour, and there's definitely a hint of Dvorak as well as more contemporary composers such as Wojciech Kilar.
Although there are some fine moments in Davis' score - the theme is terrific and the drama and tension he provides is exemplary - but it does often have that TV music feel, being a touch aimless at times.

Carl Davis, son of the late Howard Roscoe Davis and Maude Morgan Davis, was born on June 22, 1929, at Shook and died in the Missouri Southern Healthcare at Dexter on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at the age of 75.
Davis was a member of the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter, a former teacher at Dudley, had served in the Dexter Public School System as teacher, administrator, and as superintendent from 1979-1981.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Marsha Adams of Dexter, Carol Davis and Lisa Robertson, both of Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Delbert Davis of Poplar Bluff and Bob Davis of Stillman Valley, Ill.; two sisters, Betty Morgan of Poplar Bluff and Pat Witt of Springfield; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
