Much of Mississauga East evokes a westward expansion of middle-class 60s-70s "Stockwellia"; however, there are plenty of older rental apartments and enough New Canadians to make this a reasonable prospect for an opposition gain.
And besides, DeFaria is the most obscure of the Mississauga Tories--whether that's a plus or not, it's up to the constituents to decide.
DeFaria has been a totally ineffective MPPP and was even editorially critized by the local Conservative newspaper the Mississauga News.Liberals in other Mississauga riding associations are embarassed by Padda.Padda refuses to attend any all candidates meetings.

DeFaria won't be able to catch this energetic organizer, on the run.

Carl DeFaria, a third of whose constituents were described by the paper as “visible minorities,” distributed the Sing Along with Carl collection in a community newspaper just before Christmas.
He said none of his constituents complained, but a reporter at the paper took exception to the Foster song, written in 1851, because it uses the term "Darkies" at one point and to the Confederate song for reasons with which we are all by now familiar.
